When attending your first class, you will need to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled class time to complete our new client forms and class orientation. For safety, you will not be allowed to take class if you arrive past this time on your first visit. We are located in Breton Village, around the corner from Scout & Molly's, and on the East side of Omelette Shoppe.
The required attire for taking class at our studio is: leggings {capri length or longer}, a top that completely covers midriff and grippy socks. The reason leggings and a full covered top are required is to keep the heat in the body to prevent injury while keeping muscles warm. This will ensure the utmost safe workout for you! {this also allows our staff to make the proper hands on corrections} The Studio Barre workout is done without shoes and because we care about your safety, we require you wear grippy socks in class. Not only are they super cute, but they will keep your feet in place and everything clean. You can shop our boutique for your grippy socks.
We totally get that things come up and you can’t make it to the barre. if you have reserved your space in class {and we recommend that you do}, please cancel at least 8 hours in advance to avoid being charged any cancellation fees.
Classes and class packages are not interchangeable at other Studio Barre locations. Only Studio Barre Society members can enjoy classes at all studio barre locations for a discounted drop-in price. All packages are non-refundable and expire in 4 months {unless otherwise stated} so be sure to get your booty in class.
We love when you shop in our boutique. If you need to, you can return unworn merchandise within 14 days of purchase with tags still on for store credit. Sale items and special orders may not be returned.
Kristeen was born and raised right here in Grand Rapids. She grew up playing tennis and played on the team for Calvin College where she earned a degree in Elementary Education. Kristeen has taught at many grade levels from kindergarten to sixth grade at both Kenowa Hills and Knapp Charter Academy. She also teaches and coaches tennis. In addition to tennis, Kristeen also loves running and all things fitness. She especially loves barre because she has found that it is a challenging, low impact work out that lengthens and stretches muscles that may have been taken a beating after a long run. She also loves the upbeat music and the positivity that Studio Barre instructors provide. Kristeen also loves spending time with her family which includes her husband, two step sons a daughter, a dog and a cat.
A native of West Michigan, Abby has always had an intense admiration for fitness and health. She even ran track while at Alma College, where she received her degree in Business and Communication. She went on to earn her MBA in Business, while also putting her education to work with a few different companies in marketing and sales.
After discovering Studio Barre and taking her very first class, she became addicted. You could say it was love at first tuck. Frequent tucking for almost a year led her to auditioning to become an instructor, and now absolutely loves being a part of the barre team and community. Now that she is a barre{tender} by early morning and late afternoon; by day, she owns a marketing and event strategy consulting agency (Propel Business Group). When she’s not at the studio or working at PBG, you can catch her spending time with family and friends, exploring the world with her husband, Zach, or just throwing the frisbee in the yard to their Goldendoodle, Goose.
Megan was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She has a cheer, music, and dance background and has always had an itch to perform. She graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in Radiography. She has a strong passion for health and fitness and that is what brought her to Studio Barre for the first time. Megan has dabbled in many different forms of exercise and nothing has challenged her quite like the Studio Barre method; not to mention the physical results and the Beyonce booty gains are a huge plus! Did we mention she loves Beyonce? She also loves the positive vibes she gets from teaching and taking class at the studio! She just can’t get enough of that shaky burn that hurts so good. She absolutely adores being a barre{tender} and can’t wait to shake things up and tuck with you!
Hannah grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan and found an immediate love for running through Girls on the Run in the 4th grade. She has been an active distance runner for 13 years, including Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track for two years at the collegiate level. After experiencing burnout with the stains of competitive running, Hannah found her saving grace in barre. While the classes can be challenging, she sincerely believes that the small movements make the biggest difference in strengthening endurance for longer distances. Now she runs for the joyful personal challenge, and counts on barre as a source of strength and stress relief. Currently she attends Aquinas College where she is working towards her Secondary Education degree in English and History. She studied abroad for a semester in Rome, Italy and is passionate about traveling often and sharing her experiences. This spring she will be student teaching in Grand Rapids, and she is devoted to helping anyone reach their goals and dreams in the classroom, the studio, and life.
After growing up in a small town outside of Lansing, Katie loves calling Grand Rapids home. She studied Secondary Education at Western Michigan University and is a high school English teacher. She’s currently working on her master’s in Literacy Studies at WMU. Katie decided to try barre because she liked that it offers a full-body workout without having to step foot into a gym. After her first class at Studio Barre, she was very impressed by how helpful the instructors were and how the workout was challenging, yet fun! When not at the barre, Katie can often be found at a coffee shop with a book or the park with her husband and Vizsla puppy.
Anna attended college at Aquinas in Grand Rapids, MI, where she played softball and completed her degree in Business and Accounting. After earning her CPA and working in public accounting, Anna spent time in finance and marketing with Steelcase and Ingersoll Rand. Anna first fell in love with barre when she took a class while living in Charlotte, NC. Always a fitness fanatic, Anna was searching for something effective and challenging and loved the results. She was hooked and jumped at the opportunity to teach when she got the chance. In the midst of balancing a full time job, 2 kids at the time and teaching, Anna knew her path wasn’t sustainable. While she was content at her “day job”, she always felt she had so much more to offer and passion to share. When researching barre studios, Anna fell in love with Studio Barre – the high energy, challenging workouts, the signature “classy sass” and the focus on community. She lives with her husband and 3 daughters in East Grand Rapids and is thrilled to own a business within her community and spread the SB love!
Born and raised on the east side of the state, Sara is now happy to call West Michigan her forever home. She moved to the Grand Rapids area 9 years ago after attending college in Northern Michigan. With years of cheer and dance experience she was eager to find a workout regimen that fulfilled her needs. Intrigued by the “mind body connection” barre offers, along with her love for health and fitness she started at Studio Barre in July. The fun-loving atmosphere and challenging work out has her completely hooked! Sara strongly believes in fostering a welcoming and encouraging environment and is happy to be part of such an incredible team!
Jeanna grew up in Eaton Rapids where her barre obsession all began at age 5 in a pink tutu. Wow, things sure do come full circle! After 2 years of ballet she quickly learned that she was better suited for a leotard and chalk. A competitive gymnast-turned-die-hard-cheerleader for a total of 15 years eventually led her to move to West MI to coach high school cheer. While coaching, she completed her BA in Business from Baker. She then made Grand Rapids home with her husband (who she met in Grad school) and her now toddler son, Everett. She has an MA in counseling and is slowly but surely working on becoming a fully Licensed Professional Counselor. After finishing her coaching career at Cornerstone U., she set down the poms for good and picked up some sticky socks for a new journey at Studio Barre! When she is not at the Barre helping people get stronger, she is at her “day job” where she mentors 20-somethings and helps run a ministry for young adults. Barre is the perfect outlet for her to take care of herself while helping others live their best lives!
Ashley is a native of West Michigan. As a child she danced competitively and then moved on to competitive cheerleading, which led her to compete for five years at Grand Valley State University. She remains involved in the program as an assistant coach of GVSU’s co-ed and all-girl cheer teams. Studio Barre provided Ashley’s first barre experience. The challenge presented by mind-body connecting movements peaked her interest and the studio quickly became her favorite place for
“me time”. She loves being a part of the team that ignited her love for barre, and the opportunity to lead classes that she hopes provides a similar sense of challenge and self-love that she experiences when taking class. She sees Studio Barre as an environment of sisterhood where every member roots for one another, and she is thankful to be a part of that strong, audacious, beautiful tribe.
